The following are the drugs commonly used to treat Herpes Simplex Virus.

In adults, Valtrex is used in the treatment of infections that result from the herpes virus such as cold sores, shingles, and genital herpes.
In children over two years, Valtrex can be used in the treatment of chickenpox. It can also be used in treating cold sore in children above 12 years.
Valtrex does not cure herpes and does not prevent the spreading of the virus from one person to the other. However, Valtrex can be used in lessening the infection symptoms and therefore, improve the quality of life.
Acyclovir is an antiviral drug used in treating certain viruses.
